Understanding habitation checks

What is a Habitation Check?

A habitation check is a comprehensive inspection of your motorhome's living area — giving you peace of mind that your vehicle is safe and working correctly.

A habitation check protects your loved ones from hazards such as carbon monoxide poisoning and fire, identifies smaller issues before they develop into costly repairs, and helps maintain your warranty.

HabSafe comes to you — our professionally trained technicians carry out a detailed and thorough habitation check of the living area, underbody and bodywork. You'll receive a video walkthrough and final report highlighting any issues or dangers that need to be addressed.

We don't carry out repairs ourselves, but you'll have a perfectly detailed report to give to your chosen mechanic if any issues arise.

Comprehensive coverage

What's Included?

Every habitation check covers these essential areas to keep your motorhome in top condition.

Damp

We use our 3-stage, non-invasive damp check process and specialist equipment to identify any issues so they can be addressed before they become a major problem.

Gas Systems

We check gas systems for leaks, ventilation, appliance operation and any other dangerous issues to keep you and your family safe.

Electrical Systems

We check charging circuit operation, lighting, sockets, battery condition, fuses, circuit breakers, RCDs and dash warning lights.

Fire Safety

We thoroughly test all fire safety measures including smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors, fire extinguishers and fire blankets.

Ventilation

We check windows, vents and roof lights to ensure they're free from blockages and allow a healthy flow of fresh air.

Underbody

We inspect all underslung pipes and tanks, checking their condition along with corner steadies and folding steps for stability and operation.

Bodywork

All body panels, paintwork depth, decals, locks, hinges, windows, seals and furniture — checked for condition, operation and security.

Vehicle History

We check timing belt history, previous habitation checks, vehicle recalls, service history and photograph your vehicle for sale records.
